UmmelGroup International, Inc. Guides Nebraska Implementation of Electronic UI Benefits
(November 1, 2007) UmmelGroup International, Inc., has delivered independant strategy and project planning support for Nebraska’s successful rollout of their Unemployment Insurance (UI) Benefits Electronic Disbursment project.
UmmelGroup led the critical planning and initial implementation phases of the project, including feasibility study, cost/benefit analysis, and implementation rollout planning. The project was successfully delivered, on schedule and under budget, during a series of carefully orchestrated transitions. The project in Nebraska results in nearly every weekly UI payment being made electronically to a citizen’s existing bank savings or checking account, or to a Nebraska issued UI debit card serviced by US Bank’s ReliaCard Program. Since April, more than 96,000 electronic payments have been processed totaling $20 million in benefits. The switch is expected to save at least $300,000 in operational costs annually for the State of Nebraska.

“Our strategy for implementing technology involves both opportunities to help cut costs and eliminate red tape, while delivering services that benefit Nebraskans,” Gov. Heineman said. “Having a government that operates efficiently, effectively, openly, and in a more responsible manner to the citizens of this state is important and I commend everyone involved with this project for helping move Nebraska forward in this arena.”
